1. Copyright registration fees

   The current charges for postal applications are £45.00 for 5 years or £70.00 for 10 years per work.

   Formats that involve additional processing will also incur an additional fee to cover the extra time involved in processing these types of works. Please see our registration format pages for details on all registration formats.

2. Accepted media formats

   CD

   DVD

   USB Flash drive

   Floppy disc

   Cassette tape

   VHS video tape

   Paper - incuding photographs, transparencies and prints.

3. Charges and limits

   The standard charges include submissions of CDs, USB Flash drive or a DVD drive containing up to 1GB (1024MB) of data, up to 4 floppy discs, or paper documents, photos or fabric samples up to 20 pages A4/Letter/Foolscap size

   A £5 processing fee will apply for:

   Paper documents between 21 & 100 pages.

   DVD/CD disc(s) or USB Flash drive, over 1GB and up to 4GB.

   A £15 processing fee will apply for:

   DVD/CD disc(s) or USB Flash Drive, over 4GB and up to 8GB.

   Paper documents between 101 & 250 pages.

   Cassette tapes.

   A £25 processing fee will apply for:

   VHS video.

   Paper documents between 251 & 500 pages.

   Larger works should be treated as 2 or more registrations.

   The preferred formats for postal submissions are CD or DVD.

4. Notes, exceptions and allowances
   • Registering a collection of works under one title
     • You may register several parts on one compact disc, for example; a web site and artwork, or sound recordings, lyrics and midi files. In such a case, the works will be registered with Copyright Witness as one item, with one title; this does not affect the copyright of the work in any way, but please ensure this is suitable for your needs.
     • In the case of printed documents, transparencies, fabric samples or prints, you may also register a collection of small publications as one work, with one title, if this is suitable up to a limit of; 20 A4/Letter size pages.

     Please note: As copyright exists under the name of the author, company or commissioner of the work, work by different authors, organisations or collaborations need be registered separately.

   • Allowance for supporting works
     • As work size can vary enormously, the following allowances apply: Extra charges are waived for clients who submit 2 CD’s as a double album, or include a second CD/floppy disc containing information proving work development, e.g. lyrics, rough versions, supplementary files etc. Both the items must pertain to the same work.
   • There are also specific notes for US citizens.
5. Privacy statement

   Copyright Witness maintains a strict privacy policy. Any information submitted will only be used in the function of providing, maintaining and monitoring the service. All client details and registered work details will be considered confidential and will not be disclosed to any third party without prior consent. Details of our privacy and security policies..

For postal applications, you will need to complete the application form F-01, which must be sent along with a full copy of your work and payment.
