Why include a registered notice?

Once your work has been registered, you are entitled to state that it is protected with Copyright Witness as an additional deterrent against infringement.

By displaying the notice, you demonstrate that;

  • You are aware of your rights as a copyright owner
  • You take copyright seriously, and
  • You have very strong evidence with which to pursue a case if your work is infringed.

Text notices

Clients of Copyright Witness may add a simple text notice to work they have registered. This would normally appear next to or below the standard copyright notice. So the complete notice would read:

Copyright © 2012 Joe Smith. All rights reserved.
Registered with Copyright Witness: Registration No:123456789

For web sites, the following HTML code can be used. Simply replace ‘-Year-’, ‘-Name-’, and ‘-Registration No-’ with your own details.

You may also chose to include one of the logos as part of your notice.

Webmasters may also include a link to: www.copyrightwitness.com
